WELCOME TO 8th GRADE SCIENCE WITH MRS. SHIPP!
Welcome! Science is very much a hands-on collaborative subject. We will be doing a lot of activities and labs in groups, and they will change frequently. In Science class, students will design and conduct investigations, analyze data, and use models, simulations, and appropriate technologies and information systems.
I am looking forward to working with each of you throughout your 8th grade year. Your 8th grade year will your best one yet! It will be a time of personal and academic growth as you navigate a new team, new teachers and new expectations. I
set high expectation for all students knowing, with the right support, each of you will attain success! I have some expectations for all students:
1. Be willing to take risks with your learning process, which means occasionally pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone
2. Respect others' right to learn
3. Participate in both individual and group assignments/tasks (try your hardest)
4. Complete all your work to the best of your ability. DO YOUR BEST!
5. Make good choices and take responsibility for your actions
6. Keep an organized and complete binder (and composition notebook).
7. When you need extra support, please ask for it! (I am here to help you...it's my JOB!)
I am here to support you in any way I can. Science class will be a place of exploration, creative and critical thinking, and cooperative learning. My role as a teacher will be to facilitate diverse learning opportunities to ensure you reach your highest potential as a student. I know each of you possess unique qualities and instructional needs. I will do my best to meet your needs as we work together this year!
